Comments:- Recording of a performance at the MET. See OPERA January 1991 p.45. Christian Merlin made the following comment on this recording in L'AVANT SCENE OPÉRA 69-70 (Supplément) 1997 p.15: «En 1990, au Met, un pirat de service, assis vraisemblablement vers le milieu de cette immense salle, a posé sur ses genoux son magnétophone. Il bouge le moins possible pour ne pas faire crisser le tissu de son pantalon, mais il se racle souvent la gorge, à moins qu'il ne s'agisse de son voisin. L'orchestre est à une cinqqantaine de mètres assez toutefois pour serendre compte que les options n'ont que peu varié (mis à part un certain ralentissement du tempo) et que la phalange du Met n'est décidément toujours pas le point fort de la maison, Kleiber ou pas. Quant à la distribution, elle ne nous apprendra rien que nous ne sachions déjà si nous avons vu la vidéo de Vienne en 1994 car c'est le même trio Lott-von Otter-Bonney, - l'equipe de Carlos - de ces dernières années. A travers le son cotonneux et les mauvais équilibres, on saura percevoir leur complicité. Mais quelle pâle photographie ennoir et blanc de l'art tout en couleur du plus grand chef vivant!»
