Comments:- *The recording issued by the Omega Opera Archive is listed in their online catalogue (see CLORLINK.HTM) where it stated that their recordings are available «on CD, cassette or reel-to-reel tape». The date of the performance recorded is given here as June 1961. If the partial cast that they list is correct then this date is almost certainly incorrect as according to the «Chronik der Wiener Staatsoper 1945-1995» (p.635) Svanholm only sang Walther von Stolzing at the Vienna Staatsoper twice after World War II, on 27 September 1952 and 4 October 1954. As Karl Böhm conducted «Die Meistersinger» for the first time in Vienna (after World War II) on 24 February 1953 (ibid. p.303) the most likely date for the recording issued by Omega seems to be 4 October 1954. The performance took place in the Theater an der Wien.
