Comments:- The recordings on the LPs issued by Voce, on the CD-ROM, and on the Compact Cassette issued by Charles Handelman appear to be of a concert performance of the original (1847) version at a Prom in the Royal Albert Hall (25 July 1978; see OPERA September 1978 p.925). This performance started at 7 pm. and a recording was broadcast by BBC Radio 3 the same evening starting at 8.30 pm. (see Radio Times Issue dated 22-28 July 1978 pp.39-39). The recording issued on CDs by Opera Rara is stated to be of a recording first broadcast (by BBC Radio 3) on 15 April 1979 (Easter Day). According to Radio Times Issue Dated 14-20 April 1978 the broadcast started at 2.30 pm. Andrew Porter states in his review in OPERA that this is a recording of a performance given in the Camden Theatre about the same time as the performance at the PROMS. One of these recordings was re-broadcast on 3 February 1980 (see Radio Times Issue dated 2-8 February 1980 p.36).
